9.10pm . i enter the bus, grab a 2-seater in the 3rd row.

9.11pm. sitting quitely in the bus, trying to tune the “algo”

9.12pm. a girl boards the bus and grabs a two seater in the 2nd row

9.15pm. mobile rings and the girl starts quitely with “haan bol”

9.16-9.18pm. slowly the meek sound becomes very harsh and literally on the top of her voice. shouting at someone. me least bothered. others shocked at her attitude.

9.19pm. a guy boards the bus, looks terribly tired, sits next to her and converses with her. she doesnt bulge out and still tries to make sure that everyone sitting in the bus, knows that she was angry at the guy sitting next to him. the boy tries hard to console her.

9.20pm. just before the bus starts off, the boy leaves the bus. a second girl sits besides theĀ  “rude girl”.

9.25pm once the bus starts, there are series of sms beeps.. the girl replies back.

9.30pm bus crosses the sasken building.

9.40pm the girl starts crying.

9.55pm bus reaches airport road and the girl gets down and i see the same guy smiling at her when she faces him.

all this problem solved by the means of sms. nice.

Devoting time to personal development?

Posted in Career, Personal Development on Wednesday, December 6, 2006 by akashsaurav

Sometimes I wonder if personal development is also a part of your job… should my company be responsible for my personal development or its my responsibility and duty to look at my personal dev.

during my first few weeks, we were asked to choose our technology path.. we were included in the discussions which would/could change the way we think about tech… about business… about companies.. about our own group strategies.. slowly as i grew up.. there were lesser interactions with higher ups.. sometimes due to lack of time.. sometimes due to negligence..sometimes because of some assumptions that company would take that up..

i am not sure now….

i dont know whether i should take responsibility of my personal dev. or should i rely on my mentor for such things.. am i doing any mistake if i depend on my mentor for my personal dev.. after all he has much experience and is the gem of all mentors..

last night i was told [by someone close to me ] that i need to have a individual development plan.. IDP.. i should mention all the goals [both short term and long term] .. and how am i going to achieve them.. i should keep track of each of these tasks/goals.. and keep monitoring how i go about achieving those goals.. it sounds great.. but in reality that would depend on so many parameters [some might not be in my control].. but nevertheless i should give this a try..

..The Pan-IIT Conference 2006 will dwell upon this factor — transformation — which is supposed to be brought about by the IIT-ians — God’s gift to the world. And if there are about a lakh of IIT-ians across the world, they can really do wonders. This conference may initiate the important process of change. But the acid test of the meet will be what happens in the post-conference euphoria period… read more
